York SafeNet Update

November 19, 2025

You may have heard by now that, to our great disappointment, York City Council voted recently not to proceed with the partnership that is required to build the YorkSafeNet public camera system in the city of York. With your support, a great deal of work was done in good faith to address all of the expectations outlined by city council several years ago, but apparently that work was not adequate to satisfy their questions or the concerns voiced by a small group of opponents. Without city council support, there is effectively no way to build and operate this system. We are surprised and disheartened by this result, but accept the results of the democratic process.

In the course of the research and development work done by LogosWorks Partners and in anticipation of the city wanting to partner on this project, we incorporated a 501(c)(3) called York SafeNet and recruited a board of directors, which had been meeting for the past six months in anticipation of moving forward.

Because we know that a change in city leadership is coming, we have decided that rather than terminating that entity, we will have it “hibernate,” in case at some point there is a change of heart by the city and a desire to restart this effort. LogosWorks Partners will safely archive all of the technical and legal work done on the project so it can be easily accessed should someone desire to do so.

We cannot thank you enough for your good-faith investment in this effort. You are valuable partners to the businesses, non-profits, and residents of our city. We hope that this outcome does not dim your enthusiasm for our collective work to make our city an even better place to live and work.
